Mercury 40hp to 60hp engines with Electronically Controlled Fuel Injection (EFI) offer the enhanced capabilities of the SmartCraft system. SmartCraft is a complete vessel and propulsion monitoring system that provides detailed engine condition and performance data for almost all of its functions such as trim angle, speed, turns, cruise control at very low speed ( trolling) and fuel supply, as well as for a host of boat functions such as fuel level and battery voltage.

SmartCraft provides an Engine Guardian function, which protects your engine by constantly monitoring information from its sensors and providing timely alerts in the unlikely event that the engine is not operating as designed, but also by taking proactive corrective measures whenever this is deemed necessary. Also, SmartCraft's full "package" of features for Mercury's 40hp to 60hp engines includes the ability to upgrade with an optional anti-theft system (TDS) or Mercury's advanced trim system.

Intuitive, innovative features

• More control
  Mercury 50 Command Thrust models feature a taller leg, larger propeller and shorter gear ratio, offering more thrust and more control than any other outboard of comparable horsepower. Increased thrust is provided by a 2.33:1 gear ratio with 44% larger gears.
• The big hare
  Mercury's optional large bowtie has become more popular for use on open inflatables, solid hull inflatables and polyester boats, where the extended bowtie handle with conveniently located tilt/elevation switch (power trim) for easy access makes handling extremely easy and safe. Amateur anglers appreciate the cruise control function at very low speed (trolling speeds), which allows them to easily and precisely adjust the slow boat speed to the speed that fish usually bite.
